Cadillac Allante

The Allanté is one of the strangest manufacturing stories in the industry. Cadillac had Pininfarina design and build the bodies in Italy, then flew them — 56 at a time, in specially modified Boeing 747s — to Detroit to be mated with the chassis and drivetrain. The resulting "Air Bridge" was, at the time, the longest assembly line in the world. The car itself is a clean, understated two-seat convertible with a Northstar or 4.5-litre V8 driving the front wheels, and it is now one of the great bargains in eighties and nineties collecting.

This car is an Allante, the Cadillac whose bodies were built by Pininfarina in Italy and flown to Detroit for final assembly. It is offered as a mechanical project.
