The 1955–57 Bel Air is the most recognisable American car of the decade and arguably the most collected car of all time. The 1957 in particular — with its anodised gold grille, twin rocket hood ornaments, and those tall, canted fins — has become shorthand for the entire era. Mechanically it mattered too: 1955 introduced the Chevrolet small-block V8, an engine architecture so fundamentally correct that its descendants were still being built half a century later, and 1957 offered Ramjet fuel injection making 283 hp from 283 cu in. Chrome, two-tone paint, a wraparound windshield and a dash that looks like a jukebox complete the picture.
This is a completely restored Bel Air wagon shell, offered as a project awaiting mechanical completion.
