Chrysler's 300 was America's first genuine high-performance luxury car. The original C-300 of 1955 packed a 331 cu in Hemi making 300 hp — hence the name — into a full-size two-door, and each subsequent year got the next letter of the alphabet, running through to the 300L of 1965. The 300C of 1957 is the high point: Virgil Exner's Forward Look styling gave it soaring tailfins, a compound-curve windshield and torsion-bar front suspension that made it handle far better than anything its size had a right to. The later non-letter cars of the mid and late sixties kept the badge, the big-block power and the long, low proportions, and represent tremendous value for the presence they carry.
This car belongs to Chrysler's letter-series 300 line, America's first genuine high-performance luxury car, each year taking the next letter of the alphabet. Year letter, specification and originality matter as much to that lineage as the headline power figure.
This example is finished in Black over White, showing 49052 mi on the odometer (a displayed reading, not a guarantee of total distance).
