Chrysler Windsor Saratoga

The Windsor sat just below the New Yorker in Chrysler's hierarchy and shared its dramatic Virgil Exner styling — the soaring fins, the wide grille, and a body that seems to be straining forward even at rest. Torsion-bar front suspension gave Chryslers of this period a genuine ride-and-handling advantage over Ford and GM's coil-sprung rivals, and the push-button TorqueFlite automatic mounted on the dash is one of the great pieces of American interior design. Expect a big-inch V8, a bench seat wide enough for three, and a ride quality that turns bad pavement into a rumour.
