The 1946–48 Fords were essentially warmed-over 1942 designs — American manufacturers had spent four years building aircraft and tanks, and there was no time to develop anything new when civilian production resumed. That makes them the last of the pre-war shapes: a separate-fender profile, a heavy chrome grille and the flathead V8 that had been powering Fords since 1932. They were also the raw material for the entire hot-rodding movement, and a good original coupe of this vintage is now considerably rarer than the modified ones.
This car is an immediate post-war Ford business coupe, the two-door body built without a rear seat for travelling salesmen.
This example is finished in Black over Grey, showing 62793 mi on the odometer (a displayed reading, not a guarantee of total distance).
