Ford Crestline Skyliner

The Crestline was Ford's top trim in the early fifties and the model that introduced the Sunliner convertible and the glass-roofed Skyliner to the range. The 1954 cars are mechanically significant: this was the year Ford replaced the venerable flathead V8 — in production since 1932 — with the modern overhead-valve Y-block, and also the year ball-joint front suspension arrived. Two-tone paint, a curved one-piece windshield and generous chrome make these among the most cheerful cars of the decade.

This car is a Crestline Skyliner, the rare version with a tinted acrylic panel over the front half of the roof.
