Jaguar XJ6 4.2

The XJ is the car Sir William Lyons considered his finest work, and every XJ since has been a variation on the 1968 original's theme: a low, long, elegant saloon with a cabin that wraps you in leather and burr walnut, riding on independent rear suspension with inboard disc brakes. The Series III body, styled with Pininfarina's input, ran into the mid-eighties; the XJ40 and X300 that followed kept the proportions while modernising the electronics. The V12 cars are extraordinary — twelve cylinders, five and a bit litres, and an idle you have to look at the tachometer to confirm.

This car is a Series III XJ, the Pininfarina-revised body that closed out Jaguar's original XJ shape.
