Morgan Plus 8

The Morgan Plus 8 took the company's traditional coachbuilt body — steel or aluminium panels over a seasoned ash wood frame, a construction method Morgan still uses — and dropped in the lightweight all-aluminium Rover V8, itself a Buick design bought from GM. The result weighs under 900 kg and makes the sort of noise that empties car parks. The sliding-pillar front suspension dates from 1910 and the ride is entirely uncompromising. Nothing about a Morgan is modern, and that is precisely the point.
