Oldsmobile Starfire Convertible

The Starfire was Oldsmobile's response to the personal-luxury market, and it did the job with real style: bucket seats, a full-length console, a tachometer, brushed aluminium body-side panels and a standard high-output 394 cu in Skyrocket V8 making 345 hp. There was no economy version and barely an options list — the Starfire came fully equipped because that was the entire point. They were expensive when new, sold in modest numbers, and are far rarer today than their more famous stablemates.

This car sits in Oldsmobile's personal-luxury line, sold fully equipped with almost no options list because that was the entire point of the model. Equipment, originality and survival rate matter as much to that lineage as the headline power figure.
