Plymouth AAR 'Cuda 340 Six Pack

The AAR 'Cuda existed for one reason: to make Plymouth's Trans-Am racing programme legal. Named for Dan Gurney's All American Racers team, it was built for a single model year in 1970 and is instantly identifiable — a matte-black fibreglass hood with a functional scoop, a strobe stripe down the flank, side-exit exhaust that dumps ahead of the rear wheels, and a staggered tyre setup with taller rubber at the back that visibly rakes the car nose-down. Under the hood sits the 340 cu in small-block with three two-barrel Holleys on an Edelbrock aluminium intake, factory-rated at 290 hp and universally believed to make considerably more.

This car belongs to Chrysler's E-body homologation line, built in a single model year so that Plymouth could go Trans-Am racing. Production year, engine code and originality matter as much to that lineage as the headline power figure.
