The Firebird shared its F-body shell with the Camaro but Pontiac made sure nobody would confuse them: a split beak grille, slotted tail lamps, its own instrument panel, and — most importantly — Pontiac's own engines rather than Chevrolet's. The 1969 Trans Am arrived in white with blue stripes, a rear spoiler and functional fender extractors, and only 697 were built that first year. The 400 cu in Ram Air motors breathe through hood scoops that actually open, and the whole car is a little more grown-up and a little more European in its manners than the equivalent Camaro.
This car is a first-generation Firebird, Pontiac's own take on the F-body that it shared with the Camaro.
